Potrero Hill
One of the sunniest neighborhoods in the City, Potrero Hill was used sporadically by native American Indians, then became a working class neighborhood in the 1850’s, made up of primarily European immigrants.
Potrero means “pasture” referring to the fact that Spanish missionaries once used this hill for grazing cattle.
In the Victorian Era it was home to
many small wood and metal shops that catered to the booming construction industry.

Potrero Hill was once referred to as “goat hill” as it was thought only hermits and goats lived here.
Since the 1990’s it has been home to professional workers, many restaurants and even art galleries.
